The Stadlmann family is a very famous Viennese violin making family. This violin is labeled Daniel Achatius who was the grandfather of the maker of this violin. This maker is named Michael Ingatius Stadlmann. and he lived from 1756-1813. The Viennese makers are generally thought to be the best of the German makers. This violin is in superb condition as you can see. It is very well made and has many Italian characteristics. Austria borders Italy and many makers went back and forth. The varnish is a dark reddish brown and the tone is strong and powerful. It also has terrific carrying power.

The condition is excellent. This violin is ideal for someone who is looking for an old violin that is correctly proportioned and is structurally strong.
