Ignio Sderci was born in 1884 and died in 1982. He was a very prolific maker making more than 700 instruments including many large violas. He won gold medals at the Stradivarius Exhibition at Cremona in 1937. He used classical models of the old Italian Masters with a preference for Strad and Guarneri. He is generally considered to be one of Italy's best makers. This violin would work well for both solo playing and chamber music. It is in excellent condition.
