A violin by "Stefano Scarampella" of Brescia-Mantova, bearing its original label dated 1903. A two-piece sruce top with a grain alternating from the bass side as follows: Narrow, wide, narrow in center to wide at treble flanks. A two-piece quarter cut maple back with a pronounced flame of medium width running horizontally from the center joint. Ribs and scroll match the back. The instrument is covered with a beautiful transparent varnish of a red-brown color over a golden ground.
